Files are written in bd-rr blocks and also contain directory sectors so the actual trensfer rate of a file is much less then the rated transfser rate of the drive. The problem was the software.
I have a Lenovo XT 1. Maybe it’s not even making it to 4x.

To be honest it starts burning pretty sharpish, and I think at 1X. However, don’t think Nero is the problem since ImgBurn has the limitation of speed also. My calculations support http: Message 2 of 2. Am I missing something? Does Nero tell you the actual burn speed? AVS Forum articles Contests. So assuming the firmware is fine, h-ldt-st software is fine, then either it’s the discs or the drive is faulty.

I’ve never gotten it to work right but it might be worth a try. And if not, then I’ll know it’s the drive. This topic has been archived. As you say a firmware update may be necessary.
Clearly it was doing something behind the scenes that I couldn’t change because the settings were so basic. That’s still not where I want to be at, but a vast improvement.
